Cavity Wall Insulation Grants

Insulation for the nation. Free cavity wall insulation saves energy.
Cavity wall insulation can help to instantly reduce heat loss in your home by 40% – which means big savings on your energy bills, and a dramatic reduction in your carbon footprint. Insulation grants are available for between 50%-100% of the cost of insulation.
As the name suggests, there needs to be cavity, or gap, between the two layers of brick which make up your outside wall. If your home was built between 1930 and 1995 and it has not had insulation installed in the past 15 years, it is likely to qualify for grant funding.
What is cavity wall insulation?
Cavity wall insulation plugs the gap between the two layers of brick that make up your outer wall. Filling this gap with insulation makes it harder for heat to pass through the walls. The insulation is typically made from a material containing pockets of air, which prevents convection from occurring, and greatly reduces heat loss.
Benefits of wall insulation:
- Reduce your heating bills by up to £115 per year (source: Energy Saving Trust)
- Increase your home’s energy rating
- Create a warmer and more comfortable environment for your family
- You can find insulation grants up to 100% towards the cost of the work
- An average home could save £265 off their annual energy bill
- Help the UK to reduce carbon emissions
I did receive a free survey which was excellent. The two men who came were very friendly, helpful and thorough. I would certainly recommend your company to a friend. Mr S Somers
Is my house suitable?
As a (very) general rule if your outside wall measures 30cm thick, then chances are you have a cavity wall. Anything less than this and its most than likely to be solid.
Around 50% of UK houses can receive wall insulation. The best way of finding out for sure whether you can receive cavity wall insulation is to arrange a free survey. A local contractor will be able to tell you immediately whether your home can receive it.
Cavity wall insulation can be installed in just a few hours.
An approved insulation company should always be used, and cavity wall insulation should never be attempted without adequate training and knowledge. Cavity wall insulation can be installed in around 2-3 hours, with the minimum of disruption.
A series of holes, approximately 25mm wide, will be drilled into your wall in order to reach the cavity. Insulation material (typically fibreglass or mineral wool) will then be blown into the gap in order to prevent warm air escaping from inside your property.
