  • Boris promotes free insulation to London homes

    Boris Johnson has launched a new initiative to provide a range of free energy saving measures to London homes, in an effort to cut carbon usage in the Capital.

    Households in nine London boroughs will be offered energy saving light bulbs, stand-by switches, as well as free cavity wall and loft insulation to help contain heat within their home.

    Research out today claims that millions are losing out on free insulation grants from the Government, according to the Mirror.

    It says that 3.6 million homes are entitled to loft or wall insulation, which could save £150 off their annual energy bill, but so far only a fraction of the amount available has been claimed for.

  • Insulation grants to reduce energy bills in Hounslow

    Hounslow has announced a plan to insulate all it’s housing association properties with cavity wall or loft insulation, after receiving a grant for £1m.

    Households will be expected to save around £120 a year off their energy bills, and the project is also predicted to cut CO2 emmissions by 88,000kg per year as a result of the new insulation scheme.

    Members of Aberdeenshire Council are backing efforts to help the 30% of households in Aberdeenshire currently living in fuel povery by using cavity wall and loft insulation to reduce the am0unt spent on heating.
